Overview
Cavity wall ties are metal strips or wires built into cavity walls during construction to hold the masonry together. They are essential to the safety and stability of cavity walls.
Strip ties (as FCWT) or wire ties (as FWTB) are embedded in the inner and outer leaves. Ties with a 6mm hole or 6 × 18mm slot in the standard 30mm upstand fix to an existing vertical structure, with the other end embedded in the outer masonry. The drip can be fabricated to requirements and should point downward to stop moisture crossing the cavity.
